Teach and share your skills and passion

Volunteering

There are many opportunities in Nepal to volunteer. The best part is the opportunity to use your talents and skills. The Nepali children and youth are very smart and can be ambitious if they are motivated and that is why volunteers are so important, to motivate and stimulate the children to show them that they are worth it and can achieve their goals with the right attitude and mindset.

We believe that being involved as much as possible provides the best experience for the volunteers which is why each area will have a goal that focuses on being active and creative. It is wonderful to dance, teach, sing and play sports with the children. You will get smiling faces in return and the feeling that you have meant something or made a change to someone’s life. We work mostly with interns or graduates who seek work experience but you do not have to have studied for something specific to be able to teach and share your skills or passion.

Our volunteering placements are carefully selected and need your skills and creativity as well as financial support and we visit our placements weekly to stay updated. Please keep in mind that you are an extra asset to the project, there are local staffs running the projects, so please respect their work and the cultural differences you may face.

We help stimulate your skills and supervise you on professional level to make sure that not only the Nepalese benfit but you will go home with new insights and skills as well. After your stay, Nepal will be in your heart forever!

If you would like to volunteer in another field, please contact us for the possibilities.

What Our Volunteers Say...

"Being involved with INSPIREnepal is more then voluntering. It's making friends for life, it's getting new families and it's expanding your talents. Maud and Sanju are just beautiful (host)people who will show you around their projects and who will let you participate. Spread the word and come making unforgettable moments at INSPIREnepal! A big thanks to Maud and Sanju for opening their house and making my time in Nepal extra special!"

"My volunteer experience with INSPIREnepal has been life changing for me. My first placement was teaching English at a monastery for a few weeks, and it was an amazingly profound experience. I've learned a great deal about love and joy from those little monks, and the monastery has become like "home" to me. I have made many great friends and had so many memorable moments along the way, and I feel like I have many families in Nepal now. Maud and Sanju are such wonderful people, and they took very good care of everything for me. I really enjoyed working with them, and I will definitely go back again!"

Julia
Volunteer Music Therapy & Monastery Program

"Had such an awesome time on my first visit to Nepal and a lot of the credit goes to INSPIREnepal. It was well organized and they are quite responsive. The orientation with Maud was much needed, from navigating the streets, to the many traditions that make up their daily lives. She not only successfully organized my stay/volunteer at the Buddhist Monastery but I was also lucky enough to celebrate Tihar and Newari New Year with her and her "family". The personal attention you get from INSPIREnepal is unbeatable and their enthusiasm, insight and love for Nepal and its people are very apparent and contagious. My only regret is that I couldn't stay longer."

Rosalyn

"INSPIREnepal is a very pure organisation. During my volunteering in Kathmandu I was able to visit and sleep in the volunteerhouse from Maud and Sanju in the weekends. There we did fun things with each other and with the other volunteers. Maud and Sanju are really hospitable. They really live for helping others and do everything to make it a beautiful experience. For example on my first evening in Nepal I was allowed to go with them to a Nepalese wedding. They will take you to special local places and learn you things about Nepali culture. If you want you can also range activities (hiking, rafting etc.) through Maud and Sanju."

"What a fantastic experience it was!! Unfortunately my 2 months adventure became a 3 weeks adventure because of the virus.... as soon as it’s all over I will go back to Nepal to teach English to the monks. And of course go back to Maud and Sanju from InspireNepal where we could spend the weekends and do fun things together with all the other volunteers and interns. I would definitely 100% recommend this company!!! Everything is well organised and they help wherever, whenever they can. Maud en Sanju, I will see you soon!"

"I chose to go to Nepal for one month. I did the voluntary project to teach English in a monastery. It was a great experience and if I needed help or had questions Maud and Sanju were always there to answer them or to help me. They are really involved in their projects and really care about people, the people they help as well as the volunteers/interns. And last but not least: I had a lot of fun in Nepal: During my time in the monastery but also outside of that and of course also with Maud and Sanju! "

"After 4 months spent in Nepal working as a music therapist, I can not recommend these guys enough. I have felt so supported and welcome. I have made some lifelong friends as well as gaining some invaluable professional practice which will inevitably be invaluable, both in my career and in my personal development. This has been the experience of a lifetime. Here's to the next 2 months!"

"Thanks Sanju and Maud for taking good care for me as a volunteer and for the internships at your homestay. You have a great organization, really good organized. You do all the best you can to make us feel at home and at ease. I enjoyed the weekends, the fun, the movies watching while lying on the floor. Eating and laughing together. Take also good care for yourselves too. Until we meet again. Cause I will come back with cheese and teabags! "

"I spent a few weeks with INSPIRENepal and had an incredibly special time. I was immediately welcomed into Maud and Sanju's home as if I was an old friend. They offer you a lot of support during your volunteering time and dedicate time to show you the sites of Kathmandu, drink Chiya and share the best places to eat. There is also a chance to get involved in some of the other wonderful projects they run. If you're considering volunteering in Nepal, I highly recommend INSPIRENepal. It makes for very special memories."

Harriet

"A organization run by two amazing people who really do everything and open up their hearts for all the volunteers and interns who come to their organization. I look back with lots of admiration, a wonderful time in Nepal!"

Esther

"I am so glad that i had the chance to meet these wonderful people. The way they run the (small) organisation is truly wonderful and inspiring. Their personal approach with everyone, not only the volunteers but also their network in Nepal gave me the feeling of having a family away from home. They are doing everything they can to improve the lives of the people they work with, and i was really happy i could help with this. It was great to see what they already have achieved and to be involved of some of their ongoing projects. If you get the chance to work with Maud and Sanju, doubt no second to take it! "

"Being a volunteer at INSPIREnepal was one of the best experiences of my life and I just can't wait to go back one day! INSPIREnepal is a small organisation, so you get a lot of personal attention. From navagating you through the dusty streets, to picking you up in the rain to play some Jenga. Everything is possible with Maud, Sanju & Razu and they do everything with so much enthusiasm. They're such lovely people! The children home where I stayed was wonderful. The kids of the Gonykap children home were all very sweet and behaved well. The housemother and father were amazing and did everything to make it feel like home. I still miss it every day."

"This was a truly amazing experience. Teaching english at the women's school taught me more than I could have imagined and I will miss those women a lot. And my host mom, was the best Nepali sister you can ask for. Maud and Sanju are the golden couple for an organisation like this. Sanju can explain everything about Nepali culture and khana (food!) and knows about all festivals in the region. You will definitely experience one of these amazing festival days if you spend some time here. And when you have had enough of the eastern atmosphere at one point, Maud is there with some healthy western jokes and down to earth point of view. You guys rock! With INSPIREnepal you will be certain of an amazing volunteering time, but your Nepal experience will be so much more than that. So don't hesitate any longer. Just go!"

"Our experience with INSPIREnepal is unforgettable. Right at your arrival you feel welcome in Nepal but most definitely with INSPIREnepal. An organization that gives you the feeling that you are visiting your family. Maud and Sanju take you along the culture and rituals of Nepal, it makes you closer to the projects and people. Sanju explains everything that you want to know with enthousiasm. For your daily dose of humor, you’ve got Maud. It doesn’t matter if you do a project for a day or longer, you really get to experience the world of the Nepali. Welcoming, warm and gratefulness are the feelings you will experience. We experienced INSPIREnepal as personal, warm, dedicated by love and enthousiastic organization. We are already longing to go back to Nepal and to our dear friends Maud and Sanju."

"It was 2016 when I was in Nepal and had the most amazing experience with Sanju, Maud and INSPIREnepal. We started a project for his home village Chovar. We renovated the community house and were able, with a lot of help and support from family and friends from home, to build a whole library for the children there. This feeling of being able to help and support with little effort was a life changing experience. The days before I left I was invited to Maud and Sanjus home. We cooked Nepali dinner at home and went to the market. Still, when I feel I‘m missing abroad too much, I cook this dishes and feel back in Nepal. I‘m so greatful that they both let me in and made me feel welcome all the way. I experienced the "normal" Nepali life which is truly amazing. "
