Growing and learning abroad

Internships

There are many opportunities to do an internships in Nepal. You can participate in our projects or we can help you find another suitable place.

Are you a student of:

  • Creative therapy (music / art)
  • Social work
  • Psychology
  • Physiotherapy
  • Occupational therapy
  • Theater / drama
  • Teachers

And are you interested in special needs, marganalized children or to do your internship in a children’s hospital? Then we have an amazing internship for you!

The target group you will work with are mostly children and youngsters with autism or a physical and mental disabilities. Because of the problems of the children and the language barrier, communicating in a language can be tricky but this way you will be able to experience the impact and power of creative activities! You can achieve many goals with the kids but the main goal is to have fun and for the children to be seen and heard. You will be learning how to observe the child and move with the child instead of just offering an activity. This will learn you more about observing, clients needs and improve your profesional skills.

There is a Dutch qualified music therapist with experience that will supervise and guide you during your internship and who’s always available for questions. You will work together for some activities but we expect you to be able to run your own therapy/activities.

Schools/universities in the Netherlands that we have worked with so far:
  • HAN – Hogeschool Arnhem en Nijmegen
  • ArtEZ – Hogeschool voor de kunsten
  • HU – Hogeschool Utrecht
  • Fontys – Eindhoven
  • Hogeschool Leiden
  • CvA – Conservatorium van Amsterdam
  • HvA – Hogeschool van Amsterdam
  • Hanze – Hogeschool Groningen

What Our Interns Say...

"I have learned so much of the Nepali culture by staying with my hostfamily. From the way they eat to religious rituals till cultural craziness"

Maria

"What an internship experience would be for 5 months was for only three weeks (corona) Sanju and Maud are really special, kind and inspiring people: Their hospitality is really generous. INSPIREnepal is a beautiful and pure organisation; in my perception. The projects are made full of love and compassion. You feel immediately really at home and accepted. Besides your internship experience you can do many other nice, adventurous and creative things in your free time. Maud and Sanju will always be there to give you tips and advice. And they will give you free hugs and humor. "

They are thé definition of a power couple and run a beautiful organization that deserves all the love and support in the world. I will definitely be back in the near future! Love and miss you guys!"

"INSPIREnepal is a pure organization. Unfortunately the 5 months turned into 5 weeks, but what an incredible time. I was received so warmly by Maud and Sanju. Not only during my internship I was well guided also during the weekends we could do fun activities together. I hope to see you soon Maud and Sanju because it was a cool experience!"

Mandy

"Thank you INSPIREnepal and Maud and Sanju for a great experience in both Nepal and working as a music therapist. Throughout the entire time (5 months) I have felt supported, I could always come with questions, ask for feedback on my work, have supervision sessions, thank you for that. And let's not forget about the weekends, eating the best naan in the world , watching movies on the ceiling, spending way too much time on making a Christmas video, playing wacky games and visiting festivals. Thank you guys for an awesome time! "

"I’ve been with INSPIREnepal for 5 months during my social work internship and I have nothing but good things to say about the experience! Their way of supervising is very personal and they help you every step of the way to make the Nepal-experience as rewarding as possible! With trips to Chitwan, going rafting and arranging a Thangka painting workshop, they gave so many possibilities to enjoy Nepal next to my internship, that I feel that I really got to experience this country at its best. Thank you so much for everything you’ve done for me and I hope to visit the Inspire-family again next year!"

"What a amazing time I had in Nepal. InspireNepal is a small organisation that has and supports several beautiful projects in Nepal and I had the chance to join one of them. From a lovely arrival, Nepali lessons and my new (Nepali) Family where I lived for two months I got to work at a small school for children with a disability. As a Physical therapist I got a lot of freedom to train kids and work together with the staff on new projects in the school. Beside de lovely people that helped me I want to specially thank Sanju and Maud for the great thing they do throughout Nepal!"
